Youth for Equality (Unge for Ligeværd) Â
Youth for Equality was started in 1990 by a group of parents and professionals to give young people with special needs their own organisation. The need for a social network, where the young could stay in contact with friends and acquaintances from schools and educational institutions was apparent. Youth for Equality’s aim is to work for equal conditions for all youth with special needs whether these needs are based on academic, learning or functional difficulties. UFL arranges national and local activities for all youths who want to participate. Among other activities are:Â
- Informing about the target group’s conditions and difficulties through lectures, meetings and    written informationÂ
- holding courses for special need youths concentrating on developing self esteem, creativity, enterpriseÂ
- Week end meetings, trips and other leisure time activities where members can meet others in the same situation.Â
- Strengthening social and cultural meetings with othersÂ
